Online Therapy has really taken off since the Pandemic and millions of people are now discovering the sheer flexibility of seeing their therapist online.

As long as you have a private space to sit during your Zoom sessions, you can fit your therapy in around work commitments, taking your Zoom call from the office or from the comfort of your own home.  I can even work with clients when they are on holiday abroad if they have privacy and good WiFi.

What do my clients think of Online Therapy?

It's interesting to see how clients have adapted to online therapy since 2020.

Before the pandemic it was a platform that was not widely used at all here in the UK, but now, we have seen a boom in people accessing therapy this way and it's become a normal way of seeing your therapist.

Clients who were once doubtful about online therapy have now expressed their preference for this way of talking with me.

I used to see ALL my clients face to face, counselling in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. I can now appreciate that this was quite limiting for most clients. They don't always want to see a Counsellor who lives in their hometown for numerous reasons, and so they now have the freedom to choose from thousands of Counsellors across the UK.  The choice is endless!

If I'm honest, a huge part of me was also reluctant to be an online therapist as I enjoyed meeting my clients face to face each week and couldn't imagine it being the same seeing them on a screen instead.   And it is different for sure. But it's a good different and now, my entire practice is online and I work with clients all over the UK.

Clients appreciate the flexibility it gives them as it takes much less time out of their day, omitting the need to travel to a physical venue.

For some, they have said it has also helped them to feel less anxious about therapy, knowing they are sitting in the comfort of their own safe space at home.

They've found it easier to tackle emotional subjects and to process difficult feelings online. It seems there is something about the screen - it serves as a protective layer between us and has helped them to find the courage to be more open about their thoughts and feelings.

Increased Choice

As I mentioned, Online Therapy means that you no longer have to choose a Therapist in your home town.

I may be a Counsellor living in Southend-on-Sea, but my clients come from all over the UK now. Clients find me on Social Media through my Facebook Business Page and I also I get referrals from other Therapists around the country who I network with online through CPD Events and professional counselling groups.

Clients now have the freedom to choose me as their Therapist because they like the sound of me, not just because I live closest to their home and it's especially rewarding for me as a Therapist to meet people from all over the country.

Another positive of seeing your Therapist online is that it can omit any worries you might have about bumping into them when you are out with friends or taking the kids to school.

Online Therapy and Accessibility

If you have additional needs, then choosing Online Therapy means you don’t need to worry about accessibility. Being able to have your session from the comfort of your own home means no more worrying about whether the Therapists' venue is accessible, how you are going to travel there or whether you are going to be able to park close enough.
I accept that this is still not ideal as not everyone wants online therapy and not everyone has the privacy at home.  Our profession has a long way to go in meeting accessibility needs for clients wishing to work face to face with their therapist.  Unfortunately there is still very little affordable choice of accessible rooms for therapists to rent.
If you suffer from anxiety and panic attacks, then again, online therapy may be more comfortable for you, working from your safe space at home.

Another benefit of online therapy is for those clients who frequently work away from home. Having your sessions online means you don't have to keep taking breaks from your therapy every time you have to work away.

I just email you a link to Zoom, the secure online platform used by millions to keep in touch. Your session goes ahead as normal from wherever you are based. All you need is a good internet connection, privacy and your laptop, tablet or phone.

Finally, as well as being a BACP Registered Counsellor, I am also a qualified online therapist, trained by OTI, the Online Therapy Institute which ensures I am working safely with my clients.
So, whether you are a member of the public looking for help, or a UK based Therapist looking for an Inner Child Therapist or 5 star rated inner Child CPD, then have a read through the website.  My contact details are on every page.
